Latest Invention: Software That Automatically Repairs the System Affected by Malware

Together with his colleagues, Martin Rinar, who is currently a professor of computer science at MIT, managed to create new software called ClearView that is able to identify the intrusion of alien software and generate a set of patches meant to repair the operating system. The new invention detects the rule that was compromised and then generates patches that make the software to pursue the compromised rules.
Afterwards the software analyses all options in order to decide which of the chosen rules represents the most suitable patch. The team's new invention searches for particular types of errors, which are often caused by a malicious code introduced into the operating software.
A great advantage of the new invention is that it can be installed on several computers that run the same software. When it selects the most effective patch, the latter can be installed on all the other computers.
The team of researchers carried out a test of the software on a group of machines that run Firefox. A team of independent programmers launched an attack on Firefox, each using a different type of attack. ClearView managed to block the malicious codes of all attacks. It also shut down the program prior to the attack.
The new invention discarded the wrong corrections and generated patches that corrected all errors caused by malware. Just after 5 minutes of the first attack ClearView managed to create a working patch.

LG Korea has announced their latest invention, which is the first 3G HSDPA wrist phone. This phone is named as LG-GD910 which has 1.43” color touchscreen LCD, TTS (Text to Speech), MP3 Player and Video conferencing capability.
This wonder will introduced at 2009 International CES which is going to be held from 8-11 January 2009, while this wrist phone will be available in both Korea and Europe market.

Experts Unveil Inventions that Will Be Used in Everyday Life by 2039

Recently the New Scientist magazine predicted that by 2039 the X-Ray vision and invisibility cloak could be used in everyday life. The magazine listed a number of latest scientific and technological inventions that in the near future could be used by people.
Researches that are currently performed on ultrasound will make the X-Ray vision in humans possible, giving the possibility to virtually see through walls. As for the invisible cloaks then, experts believe these will be available in the shops by 2039. The technology used in the invisibility cloaks, which are currently tested by scientists, tricks the human eye by altering the light waves. Read more here: Invisibility is now one step closer.
The list also includes a replication of a gecko's foot, which scientist will create for gloves and boots, making it possible for people to easily climb walls by sticking to them just like the Spiderman.
The magazine's representatives interviewed scientists to discover that within 30 years the world will observe world's first handheld language-translating device that will instantly convert foreign words that are heard by its user. The invention will resemble the "Babel Fish" in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
It is worth mentioning that New Scientist magazine collected information about the latest inventions in science to mark the 30th anniversary of the first cellular network that was launched in Japan back in 1979.
Experts also included in their list an invention called "handheld healing machine", which can identify and instantly heal internal injuries in a human body.
In 2039 scientists also predict that people will use readily-available jet pack which will help users fly short distances avoiding being stuck in traffic jam.
Experts also predict that humans will use a device able to gather human energy and utilize it to charge cell phones and iPods.
The authors of the article in the scientific magazine mention that in 30 years time the upper mentioned scientific and technological inventions might have a great influence on our life and their impact could be even bigger than mobile phones, the Internet and the iPods.

Latest Invention: In-car Personal Robot That Learns Driver's Habits

The new invention of MIT researchers is the Affective Intelligent Driving Agent (AIDA), which represents an in-car personal robot. With their new invention scientists hope to change the usual way drivers interact with their vehicles. To develop the robot, a group of researchers from the Personal Robots Group at the MIT Media Lab teamed up with MIT's SENSEable City Lab and the Volkswagen Group of America's Electronics Research Lab.

The goal of researchers was to create a personal assistant that would learn about a driver's behavior in an environment and offer suggestions according to the collected data. According to Professor Carlo Ratti, director of the SENSEable City Lab, they wanted to create a system able to provide information like an "informed and friendly companion." The new system interacts with the driver via a small robot incorporated in the car's dashboard.

Professor Cynthia Breazeal, director of the Personal Robots Group at the MIT Media Lab, says AIDA can analyze the driver's mood from his or her facial expressions and react in a "socially appropriate and informative way." The new invention communicates by giving smiles or blinking its eyes that appear on the robot's screen. In order to recognize the set of goals that the driver looks forward to achieve, the system evaluates the mobility model of the driver, registering common routes and destinations. The system builds its own understanding of the city, integrating real-time event data regarding the environmental conditions, along with commercial activity, different tourist attractions, and uptown areas.

Assaf Biderman, associate director of the SENSEable City Lab, says that after AIDA has collected enough knowledge about driver's needs and priorities, it is able to make significant interferences. In just one week the system will learn about the driver's home and work location. After that AIDA will be able to guide the driver to the nearest grocery story, offering a route to dodge traffic jams.

Biderman adds: "AIDA can also give you feedback on your driving, helping you achieve more energy efficiency and safer behavior." It is worth mentioning that the new invention was created in partnership with Audi and the Volkswagen Group of America's Electronics Research Lab. The group of scientists behind the system is managed by Professor Cynthia Breazeal, Carlo Ratti, and Assaf Biderman.

Shoes that make you ‘Think’ green, walk green, live green!

‘Necessity is the mother of all inventions’, truly – and the latest essentiality is the environment, therefore, going green is the newest excuse for all inventions. With designers headed the greener way, many problems of the environment could sometime soon be the worries of the past.
‘Think‘ is one solution to that many above. Bought a latest pair of total 90 or some other sneaker, amazing texture and feel, indeed – but where would it land up, when it’s old and tattered – yes, you got that right, in the trash, where else! But have you ever wondered why? It is because of the adhesive used in the manufacture that forbids recycling.
Think, is a thought of designer Ben Chappell, it is a modular trainer/shoe concept that uses mechanical locks instead of the adhesives, which allows for each part of the shoe to be removed and recycled.


A self-assembled shoe in three variations of each part, Think allows you to organize it accordingly. Easy to be recycled, the trainer can be constantly updated with the mechanical locks according to your taste and match.
There is an encouraging green solution here to encourage recycling amongst the customers, retailers will run a take back scheme wherein the customers would get special discounts on the next purchase, when they return an old part of the trainer. This is so much in a shoe that I don’t think any green enthusiast wouldn’t grab when it is up.

Sony has been coming up with excellent new inventions since is birth in 1950′s and this time it has been put forth in a modern innovative idea of fusing technology with furniture by making the Sony Fusion Coffee Table.




The Sony Fusion Coffee Table, as it’s name explains, is basically a desktop smartly infused with coffee table… similar to the PS3 Controller Coffee Table. It would be quite awesome to have a meeting and a date at the very same time. The concept table would have a matte black aluminium top with a sleek chrome lining with arched chrome legs to support the table and to transform the table into your very own work station, all you would need to do is press a simple button. The desktop part of it would comprise of a touch sensitive keyboard with an adjustable screen; the table top divides into two halves and smoothly slides without making any sort of clumsy sound to unveil it’s LED outlined keyboard , it’s screen and DVD drive on it’s side; this awesome table would be available in three colors namely red, white and blue but you need to shell out a little more for it’s priced at $3000.

Dyson’s Latest Inventions- 09.16.11

Fresh in from Anna of Sub-Studio who caught up with James Dyson’s latest inventions at Skylight West in New York.
The event was full of Dyson goodies, including the brand new Dyson Hot fan heater and the recently released DC41 Animal vacuum and DC34 handheld vacuum. The star of the show was definitely the the Dyson Hot - a “fan heater that warms the whole room faster than any other”. Although, since you can set the temperature anywhere between 32 and 99 degrees, it could work as a cooler too.
The Dyson Hot sucks air in from around the room and pushes it out at 6x the rate of intake, creating a jet of hot air. This causes the air in the room to circulate efficiently, allowing the Hot to take a much more accurate temperature reading of the room than your standard thermometer. As a result, it can heat the entire room to the desired temperature before it shuts off.
The new model is packed with fun design features too. Unlike traditional heaters, the heating coils are hidden in the oval frame, leaving no visible heating elements. Even the frame doesn’t get hot to the touch, even when on a high heat. If the unit is tipped over, it shuts off for safety. And the head is adjustable so that you can angle the heater up or down. The unit comes with a magnetized remote that is shaped to sit on the top of heater.

Dyson had several other dissected models, revealing their typically hidden elegance within.


There is even a cute water faucet graphic on the filter inside the DC41 Animal vacuum.

A squadron of DC34 handheld vacuums. The little vacuum boasts highest suction of any other handheld thanks to the Dyson digital motor, which spins up to three times faster than conventional electric motors.

And a small army of vacuum cleaners including the latest addition to the family.


Unexpected innovations continued even through the bathroom, with a bit of clever promotion for the Dyson Airblade. When I reached for a paper towel to dry my hands, I found a paper towel-like info sheet on the airblade with the slogan: “No towels. No paper waste.”
